The story

Running for over three and a half years, Likuid has developed a reputation as one of the best no-fuss monthly underground house nights in Melbourne.

A weekly night in its infancy, Likuid evolved into a more intimate and underground monthly party to fill a distinct gap that had emerged, both musically and creatively, between over promoted one-off large scale dance parties and smaller weekly club/bar nights. Beginning its party odyssey at Pure bar in Fitzroy, Likuid moved to the infamous Mi Casa Es Tu Casa for a stint, before finally ending its journey at the warm and inviting surrounds of Altitude (formerly ‘up-top bar’) in the CBD.

The party is renowned for its obsession with quality open-minded house music in all its forms – tech-house, German minimal/tech, minimal electro and progressive the staple diet of the Likuid massive. The party has attracted attention internationally also, with A list international artists Tyler Stadius (Canada, Fabric) and Asad Rizvi (UK, Wrong, Reverberations) having guested at Likuid parties.

The night is run by Likuid resident Paul Agius and his brother Dave Agius. Prominent Melbourne djs Gavin Keitel (Sunny, 161, Earthcore), Lance Harrison (Sunny, Phonographed) and Luke Moylan have also established key residencies at Likuid - Lance Harrison and Luke Moylan playing an instrumental role in the running of the party and development of the Likuid sound. Other guest dj’s that have played Likuid are: Lorenzo (UK), Mike Callendar (Honkytonks, Sunny), Jeff Tyler (Phreakin), Dean Millson (Private Function), Phil K (Sunny), Ozzie LA (Sunny), Brock Ferrar (Groove), Mike Buhl (161), Forty6&two, Daniel Filipovic (Pinksilver) and Pete Farmer.

Likuid parties will run monthly at La Di Da in 2009. Check the monthly Mixes for a taste of the infamous Likuid sound or better still, subscribe to the free Podcast and get new Likuid mix sessions as they're posted.
